It should be day three of this 28-day writing challenge but I did not publish anything yesterday so this is day 2. To be honest, this challenge is making me realize how many obstacles you may have to overcome in order to simply keep a promise that you have made to yourself. It is not as easy as I thought it would be.
Yesterday was a difficult day for me. It was one of those days that consumed more of my mental and emotional energy than I would have liked. I on survival mode for most of the day as a lot was out of my control.
Although I was determined to write something yesterday, it proved to be difficult. In the end, it just did not work out. I am learning that some days just being able to get through the day is an achievement in itself and that is okay.
As I write this today, it is almost 11 pm and I was just about to get into bed for the night but then I realized that if I am going to grow the discipline that I need to honor myself, I had to sacrifice a few minutes and just write this out. This is challenging, but it is the more reason why I have to do it. Good things do not often come easy.
“Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm”
If I fail to make it on one day, that’s alright. I do not have to quit, I can keep marching forward. It is Winston Churchill who said, “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”
Based on this quote, I am choosing to count my movement forward as success. When I am able to keep a promise to myself for one day even though I have failed many times before, I count that as a win. If I can accumulate these small wins for a period of time, I am certain that the difference will be tangible.
I am going to continue counting on these small wins as progress. My hope is that today this will encourage you to dust yourself and move forward in whichever area of your life that you need to. If you are on a journey to honor the promises you make to yourself, start today. Even if you failed yesterday, you can still get a small win today. All the small wins here and there will accumulate eventually and bring you closer to your goal.
I hope you can join me on this journey, shall you?
Press on.
With love,
Debbie
